Podcast Roundup – April 21

Here are this weeks editions of the podcasts I try to listen to each week.

Philosophy in Action – Dr. Diana Hsieh and Greg Perkins take on questions on the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, being virtuous but not happy (how to overcome rationalism), how to defend abortion rights. This was an extra long edition of the weekly podcast with lots of good information.

Peikoff.com Episode 318 – Dr. Leonard Peikoff answers questions about Edward Snowden as hero or traitor, the novelization of history and advice to someone who sees their ultimate values in an unattainable person.

I just completed lecture 6 of Principles of Grammar by Dr. Leonard Peikoff. It has been a little depressing to have made as many corrections in my homework as I have, but it really is quite interesting material. Lecture 6 deals mostly with proper usage of commas. Once again it is material that, if I was ever taught it this way, I had long since forgotten. Call me strange, but I find it all fascinating.

I have also begun reading Uncle Sam Can’t Count: A History of Failed Government Investments, from Beaver Pelts to Green Energy by Burt and Anita Folsom. It is a fascinating account of the history of government failures when trying to pick winners in the market which is far from a new occurrence.
