As you may have noticed, my posting frequency has dropped quite a bit over the last month. My goal this year has been to get onto a schedule of posting something every other day or so, which is pretty challenging for me.
However, last month my wife arrived from Venezuela so time that I might have spent working on the blog has been spent with her. We haven’t completed our immigration paperwork yet, we hope next year, so she is only able to come for brief periods each year, and I have to take advantage of that time together. Usually, she can be here for a month, but this year we get to be together for three months.
So instead of writing I, we, have been pursuing other values. Usually on this blog I tend to write about the things that are going wrong, the dis-values as it were, that are so prevalent today, so it has been a welcome change to look at the positives for awhile. Despite all the negatives, we do still have it pretty good in this country. Not perfect by any means, but still pretty good.
We both like biking, so we’ve done a fair amount of that:
Over Memorial Day weekend, my brother took us out to exercise our Second Amendment Rights.
Here are our targets from our time at the range.
I am getting plenty of ideas for new posts when I talk her about items from the news here, and she tells me how they are similar to Venezuela under Chavez. (Lots of things about Senator Bernie Sanders falls into this category.) When I mentioned to her an article claiming Venezuela experienced an “economic miracle” under Chavez, she just looked at me and made a raspberry sound. I just don’t have time to work them out as fully as I’d like, but they will likely make it to the blog in due time.
At some point, I will find the balance between spending time with my wife and writing on the blog regularly. Until then, posts will likely be sporadic though I hope interesting.
